Great Fruit for Diet, Gamgyul – No worries about getting fat!
Because of the idea that something sweet ‘has a high sugar content and is high in calories’, people believe that having a lot of the sweet fruit, gamgyul, will make them fat. The reason we feel the sweet taste of the fruit is mainly fructose, which is worth only 4 kcal per 1g while providing 1.15-1.73 times the sweet taste as saccharose for the same volume, it won’t make people as fat as easily as other sugars. Also, a lot of dietary fiber contained in gamgyul draws moisture and expands to give a sense of satiety. It also restricts the intake of other foods that are high in calories and contains no fat, unlike cookies. It surprisingly has only 50 kcal per 100g. Recent innovations in cultivation technology have increased the sugar content of gamgyul, but only increased the calories by 4 kcal per 100g.
It also develops viscosity in the stomach and small intestines to inhibit or slow down the absorption of fat and saccharide and does not raise blood fat or cholesterol. As described, gamgyul is a low calorie food, perfect as a diet snack.
